Yes I am lucky to live in Tahoe and I was reminded of that this week when a prospective client says to me, “We live in San Diego and we want to move to Tahoe, at least that’s my plan, now it’s getting everyone else (wife and 3 kids( on board to do it.
“I love being surrounded by peaceful outdoors. The tall tree’s, being in a place where you can see seasonal changes, and snow. I love tahoe because you have summer and winter sports right in your back yard.”
Hopefully their plan will stick and they will move out here to Tahoe and their kids will get to enjoy the four seasons. They are looking for a 4 bedroom house with at least 2 baths and at least 2200 sq.ft. The house must feel like Tahoe and have lots of wood and not have neighbors too close. and be priced under $700,000. Here are the best choices (8 houses) for them from our current inventory View Listings.
It doesn’t hurt to dream right! Another comment I heard this week while I was riding up the Stagecoach Chairlift at Heavenly, “Ya I have a house in Tahoe but its my mom’s house” The man sitting next to me was a longtime local who grew up in Tahoe and taught skiing at Kirkwood in high school. He now lives in Oakland and works for start-ups. His daughter who is 6 is already a great skier. I told him I live in the Burn area and he was like
“awesome you are the envy of the San Francisco people who all want a house in Tahoe, I tell people I have a house and they are all jealous (even thought its my mom’s house where I grew up)”.
So again yes I am lucky to live in Lake Tahoe. I am thankful for Heavenly for hiring my husband as Director of Base Ops in 2010/2011. I actually moved here sight unseen and haven’t regretted it for a moment. I was a Realtor prior in Idaho for 12 years and that experience has helped my career here in Tahoe. So we keep busy but there is always time for a little fun with skiing, snowboarding, paddleboarding, hiking and mountain biking.
“Selling vacation homes is what I do”
If you are curious as to what the current real estate market is doing please visit this article. So will the San Diego family buy in Tahoe and live a lucky lifestyle? Most people would say that they live in San Diego so life is good for them and the weather is great. However I think it would get really stale waking up to the same weather everyday. 80 degrees, sunny and beach weather-I know right that doesn’t sound so bad but no snow, no white Christmas no spring and fall. Every day would just be another day and every night would be just another night.
Lake Tahoe has such a variety and everyone that owns a house here knows they are lucky to live in Tahoe. Some get to live it every day, some just come for the weekends or some visit their family cabin every 10 years and dust off the cobwebs. Hopefully we all appreciate Tahoe and where we live and that yes we are lucky to Live in Tahoe.
